THE NAGAJUBAN FOR WOMEN, A JAPANESE UNDERWEAR TO WEAR UNDER THE KIMONO
The nagajuban is a Japanese underwear that looks like a kind of white cotton dress . This is worn under the kimono to avoid it coming into contact with the skin because cleaning the kimono is an expensive and complex task, unlike the nagajuban which is easy to clean.
This underwear is worn only under the kimono (and not under the yukata) and the only visible part must be the collar.
So that you can free your neck, an accessory is supplied with the nagajuban, it is a rigid tongue called eri shin . This accessory slips into the hem of your collar to give it a nice shape.
Did you know ? The eri shin is reserved exclusively for women . The neck is considered erotic in women, which is why this part of the body is more or less open depending on its age. Men wear the kimono collar very close to the neck.
